About Dave Thompson
Dave Thompson is a life long Minnesotan. After spending his early years in Little Falls, he moved with his mother and sister to East Grand Forks. He graduated from East Grand Forks Senior High School in 1980, home of the Green Wave! In 1984 Dave graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Dakota with majors in economics and political science. He received his law degree from the University Of Minnesota Law School in 1987, and is a practicing attorney. He has represented both employers and employees in workers' compensation disputes. Over the last few years, Dave has focused his practice on small business work, contracts, estate planning and litigation.
For 7Ĺ years, Dave hosted "The Dave Thompson Show," a radio talk show that aired on AM 1500 KSTP. Dave was also the primary "Deputy Mayor" of Garage Logic, sitting in dozens of times for Joe Soucheray. In addition, you might recognize Dave as part of a debate segment known as "Face Off" on KSTP TV's Emmy Award winning news program, "At Issue with Tom Hauser". Daveís radio and TV experience have afforded Dave the opportunity to cultivate and hone his understanding of the issues necessary to be a successful leader in the Senate.
Our current State Senator, Pat Pariseau, has chosen to retire at the end of her current term. Dave is honored to have received Patís endorsement.
Dave teaches Sunday School at his home church, Trinity Evangelical Free in Lakeville. He is a voracious reader, enjoys all kinds of music, from Mozart to Led Zeppelin. His favorite title in life is "Dad". Dave and his wife, Rhonda, have been married 25 years, and live with their 2 children in Lakeville. Amanda, age 17, is a senior at Lakeville South. Phil, age 15, is a freshman at Lakeville South.
